Our History
From the beginnings in a Viennese basement to a renowned technical supplier for customers all over the world.
1969: Company Start-up
Franz Enzfelder founded a mechanical workshop in Vienna. In a cellar, the start-up manufactured machine parts according to drawings using a small machine park. Within a single year, the workforce grew to 3 employees. At this time, Enzfelder had already started manufacturing threaded spindles and nuts according to drawings. Subsequently, we expanded our production range and included gear wheels, worm wheels and worms, also according to drawings.
1975: Relocation and development of the spindle gearboxes
After relocating to Enzesfeld in 1974, we began developing spindle gears. The experience we had gained in manufacturing trapezoidal threaded spindles, nuts, worm gear sets, and housings was incorporated into the design. After many tests, we began series production of spindle gears after a year. The result was a product with an excellent price-performance ratio. Distribution was handled by dealers throughout Europe.
1981: Design and construction of small hydropower plants
In 1981, we began designing and building small hydroelectric power plants to replace diesel generators. At that time, however, environmental awareness was not yet widespread, and we discontinued production in 1986. In 1989, Enzfelder GesmbH replaced Franz Enzfelder. In 1990, we expanded our product range with scissor lifts and cable winches. In 1991, we tested flexible drive shafts and added them to our production. At the same time, we developed telescopic spindle gears. We even obtained a patent for this principle.
1993: Selling under our own name
In 1993, we began selling spindle gears under our own name and exhibited them for the first time at the Hannover Industrial Fair. From that point on, we were approached with a wide variety of tasks, which we solved according to our customers' needs. In 1994, we collaborated with our customers to produce our first special-design bevel gears. In 1995, we developed spindle bearings and added them to our standard product range. In 1996, we produced planetary gears for the first time at the request of a customer. We have been manufacturing standard bevel gearboxes since the late 1990s.
2000: Development of electric cylinders in standard design for very high loads
Development of electric cylinders for high loads and telescopic spindle gears. Completion and expansion of the standard program to include electric cylinders and cubic spindle lifting gears. Introduction of a 2D-3D product catalog. Commissioning of a new assembly hall and expansion of the machine park with a 7-axis CNC machining center from AXA. Transition to 3D design, expansion of the sales network in France, and the start of series production of high-performance spindle lifting gears. First trade fair appearance in Lyon.
2005: Development of a new TSGLR telescopic spindle gear series
In 2005-2006, we began developing a new series of TSGLR telescopic spindle gearboxes. These compact telescopic spindle gearboxes are used in theater stage technology, aircraft technology, railway lifting technology, and mechanical engineering. In 2008, we replaced the thread grinding machine with a CNC thread grinding machine from Mikromat.
